2024 Report
In addition to our own educational training activities which are held at ERA’s premises, external events are also regularly hosted here. This taxable activity is marketed under the ERA Conference Centre (ECC). The events are for example trade fairs, congresses, conferences and seminars or receptions. The ECC has had a special relationship with the neighbouring hotel Vienna House Easy by Wyndham Trier. This hotel also organises events for their clients at the ECC.
Event highlights in the ERA Conference Centre
In 2024, the lack of sufficient resources for sales and implementation activities continued to be a problem for the ECC business. However, in addition to organising activities for its core customers, the ECC hosted two major events. At the beginning of January, the city of Trier hosted an event to plan the 450th meeting of the Executive Committee and the 238th meeting of the Main Committee of the Association of German Cities. Lord Mayors from all over Germany were guests in Trier and at ERA. In the second half of the year, the Greater Region 2024 bilingual Energy and Hydrogen Congress was held at the ECC. The aim of this event was to create cross-border added value for the development of the hydrogen economy by pooling resources and initiatives in the Greater Region of Luxembourg, Wallonia, Saarland, Grand-Est and Rhineland-Palatinate.
In addition, members’ meetings, trade exhibitions, annual meetings of regional companies as well as state examinations have been organised at our facilities.

ECC Revenue
Although ECC revenues are still low compared to the very successful years of 2018 and 2019, ECC revenues in 2024 were 13% higher than planned, despite the limited resources available. However, costs increased proportionally by less than 5%, which is significantly less.
Rent and catering remain the main sources of operating income for the ERA Conference Centre. Accounting for 68% of total income in 2024, the share of both sources in total income is significantly higher than in 2023. In particular, income from catering and beverages has increased significantly compared to 2022 and 2023.
